Hello, I just saw your video describing your experience on laughing gas and you explain your experience very well.
I am in recovery from addiction to this substance and suffered from inhalant induced psychosis. What I was addicted to was these experiences like the one you had. I had many like yours and since being sober I’ve been trying to make sense of what I’ve been through. Right before I got sober I saw all of these options for timelines I went to treatment, if I didn’t, and if I died to name a few. Like you, I saw how this affected everyone in my life and the impact my life could have if I chose to live. I experienced many things more intricate than this that I still can’t explain. I find myself wondering, what is the line between psychosis and universal knowledge?
If you have any insight or thoughts on this I would love to hear it.
Hello Cora! I was fascinated when I read your comment. I’m sorry you’ve had to go through recovery, however good for you for being brave enough to do so. In response to your question, the experience I had and that it sounds like you had don’t have anything in common with psychosis. As a nurse of 26 years, I have a great deal of experience with psychosis and it has several hallmark traits that go with it. Hallucinations being one of them. The thing is that my experience was not a hallucination. There weren’t things in the room with me, it was more like a dream or a vision. How about you? Some of the other traits are: paranoia and paranoid delusions (thinking someone is after you, for example), disorganized thoughts and speech (such as word salad), abnormal motor behavior (can’t move regularly), trouble thinking clearly, etc. The experience I had was nothing like that. How about you? I would love to hear more about the other things you saw or experienced in relation to timelines and universal knowledge if that is something you are ever interested in discussing. I hope you’re doing well. Please reach out if you interested in speaking with me or coming on the podcast. [email protected] xo V.
